Description

Siddartha meditated for over a month beneath a fig tree in Bodh Gaya, India. He rose from his contemplative attitude after 49 days. He expressed gratitude to the tree for its shade and attained enlightenment. That is when he achieved the title of Buddha, or the enlightened one. The Buddha gained prominence from the fig tree that provided shelter as the Buddhist religion flourished. Similar to how Siddartha evolved into the Buddha, the tree grew into the Bodhi tree or tree of enlightenment.
