Roses have been grown in gardens for at least 5,000 years. The Middle East was a major rose-growing region throughout the Roman era. At parties, they were utilized as confetti and were also employed as a resource of fragrance. Several big public rose gardens were constructed in the south of Rome by Roman nobles.
