The Egyptians made the oldest known still life paintings around the 15th century BCE. Food-related funerary artwork have been uncovered in ancient burial sites, including crops, fish, and meat. The most renowned ancient Egyptian still-life was found in the Tomb of Menna, a tomb whose walls were filled with extraordinarily detailed depictions of daily life.
